Attorney Ravi Sattiraju of Sattiraju & Tharney, LLP represented Scott Specchio against YRC in a hostile workplace lawsuit. In the lawsuit, Specchio maintained he was subjected to anti-gay slurs and physical abuse in the workplace.
The jury awarded Specchio around $4.6 million in economic and emotional distress damages in addition to $15 million in punitive damages under the NJLAD (New Jersey Law Against Disrimination). There were additional damages awarded for assault and battery ($1 million), as well as intentional infliction of emotional distress ($2 million).
